Solar system, planets, the Moon, NASA, black holes, stars and the universe

Space quizzes are the fastest way to find out how much you really know about the universe. This hub gathers every space and astronomy quiz on Trivia Quiz World: the solar system and its eight planets, the Moon, stars and galaxies, black holes, cosmology, NASA and the history of space exploration from Sputnik and Apollo 11 to the rovers on Mars.

New to astronomy? Start with the Planet Quiz to name all eight planets from clues, then the Solar System Quiz for moons, belts and records. The 25-question Space Trivia Quiz is our all-round challenge for classrooms and quiz nights. Fans of spaceflight should play the NASA Quiz, the Space Exploration Quiz from Apollo 11 to Mars and the Space Missions Quiz. For a real test, try the Astronomy Quiz, the Universe Quiz and the Black Hole Quiz, which cover parallax, dark energy, event horizons and gravitational waves.

Every space quiz has at least 15 multiple-choice questions, one per page, with a short explanation after each answer so you learn the science behind the fact. Figures such as planet counts, moon totals, distances and mission dates follow NASA, ESA and International Astronomical Union reference data and are reviewed when new discoveries change them, such as Saturn's growing moon count.

Quick facts to boost your score: there are eight planets since Pluto became a dwarf planet in 2006; Venus, not Mercury, is the hottest planet; sunlight takes about eight minutes to reach Earth; twelve astronauts have walked on the Moon; and the universe is about 13.8 billion years old. There is no timer and no sign-up, so you can play any space quiz again once you finish. For a lighter read, our fun facts about space article has true or false questions you can use at home or in class.
