Was Hulk’s Arm Permanently Damaged in Avengers: Endgame?

Short answer: Hulk’s right arm was severely damaged when he used the Nano Gauntlet in Avengers: Endgame, and it was still scarred and weakened at the end of the film. It was not shown as permanently useless, though. The Marvel films and later Disney+ series show the arm in a sling, then in a brace, while his gamma-powered body slowly recovers.

After the Avengers collect the six Infinity Stones from the past, they need someone to wear the Nano Gauntlet and reverse Thanos’s snap. The stones release enough energy that Tony Stark warns it could kill a normal person. Bruce, as Smart Hulk, volunteers because the radiation is largely gamma energy and he is the team member best built to survive it.

The snap works and brings back everyone who vanished, but the energy scorches Hulk’s right arm. The scene shows blackened, burned skin running up from his hand, and Bruce is clearly in pain. For the rest of the film he keeps the arm in a sling, including at Tony’s funeral.

The film itself never says the injury is permanent. What it shows is serious, visible damage that has not healed by the end. Later Marvel stories fill in more detail:

The best reading of what’s on screen is that the arm suffered lasting nerve and tissue damage that needs support, rather than a cosmetic burn that disappeared. Marvel has not confirmed a full recovery.

Hulk was designed by the story to survive. His body is already saturated with gamma radiation, and the Infinity Stones are shown releasing a gamma-like surge. That absorbed most of the punishment. Tony Stark’s later snap with the Iron Man suit had no such protection; the energy spread through his body and he died. The contrast is deliberate: Bruce paid with his arm, Tony paid with his life.

Did Hulk lose his arm in Endgame? No. The arm was burned and injured but remained attached and usable.
